Classification

Please take care with your responses to these questions, as they determine the type of application you will complete.

Summary of Terminology

  • Tertiary Study - Education beyond secondary school level with the intention of gaining a degree or diploma.
  • School Leaver - a young person who is about to leave or has just left school.
  • Study Abroad/Exchange Students - International students that are attending university and are coming to Otago normally for a single semester.  This does not apply if you are coming to Otago and studying towards a full degree.
  • Postgraduate - relating to or denoting a course of study undertaken after completing a first degree.
  • Undergraduate - a university student who has not yet taken or completed a first degree.

If this is your first year of Tertiary Study and you are under the age of 20, you will complete a school leaver application.

If you answer "No" to all three questions, your classification will automatically be "Undergraduate" and you will complete a full degree undergraduate application.  This will require information about your previous Tertiary Study.

If you select the incorrect classification, your application will be deleted and you will be required to complete a new application with the correct classification.  Please contact the Student Accommodation Centre if you require additional information.
